BIFOCAL CONTACT LENSES

SEGMENT DESIGNS

Segment lenses can be made as fused or cut bifocals.  

The fused bifocal has a higher index plastic fused into the carrier lens in order to achieve the add power.

A cut bifocal has two curves cut on the front (or back) surface of the lens.  There is a small ledge where the two curves meet since the curve needed to obtain the add power has a steeper radius.
